Meet Dr. Mark Beckstead

Dr. Mark Beckstead

Specializing In Periodontics

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and he has held faculty positions at both the University of the Pacific (UOP) and the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) schools of dentistry. He is currently in private practice where in addition to providing the full scope of periodontal treatment, he has developed particular interest and expertise with implants, bone augmentation, soft tissue grafting, conscious sedation, laser surgery and preventive dental care.

A native Californian, Dr. Beckstead grew up in the bay area and he attended local schools. His college pursuits took him to Brigham Young University (BYU) where he received a bachelor’s degree in biology. He followed his father’s footsteps by choosing a career in dentistry. He graduated with honors from the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he entered a General Practice Residency at the VA hospital in West Los Angeles. It was during his residency that he developed a real interest in periodontics. He went on to postdoctoral specialty training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry where he received his certificate in periodontics.

Dr. Beckstead has been active in the local dental community through continuing education programs. Dr. Beckstead has directed the award winning Palo Alto Study Club. The club is an organization of dental professionals who meet together to further their understanding of inter-disciplinary treatment and comprehensive care of patients.

Dr. Beckstead and his wife have four children, nine grandchildren and they reside in Los Altos.
