Dr. William (Wei Yu) Tang
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon – D.M.D.
Dr. William Tang is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with a distinguished career dedicated to complex surgical care, dental rehabilitation, and public health service. A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Tang is known for his expertise in advanced surgical procedures, including dental implants, orthognathic surgery, trauma management, and facial reconstruction.
Dr. Tang completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the UCSF Fresno Medical Education Program, where he trained across multiple hospitals including Community Regional Medical Center, Valley Children’s Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, and VA Medical Center in Fresno. His training covered a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient procedures under general anesthesia, including experience in trauma surgery, internal medicine, plastic surgery, and pediatrics.
He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health and holds a Certificate in Public Health with a dental emphasis. His academic foundation was built at the University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained a B.A. in Molecular Cell Biology with a focus on immunology and pathogenesis.
Currently, Dr. Tang serves in multiple clinical roles across Northern California, including positions at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System, where he teaches oral surgery to GPR residents and provides treatments for veterans, and at private practices in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Redwood City.
Throughout his career, Dr. Tang has been deeply involved in community outreach and public health initiatives. He has provided oral health care to underserved populations including the Navajo Nation, homeless communities in Phoenix, and patients in rural California and Texas. His dedication extends internationally, having coordinated public health programs in orphanages in Taipei, Taiwan.
In addition to his clinical and community work, Dr. Tang has contributed to academic research in oral pathology and immunology, including studies on oral squamous cell carcinoma and T cell apoptosis.
Dr. Tang is fluent in English and Mandarin, with conversational proficiency in Taiwanese. With a passion for patient-centered care and a commitment to lifelong learning, he continues to make impactful contributions to both clinical practice and public health.
Dr. William Tang is Taiwanese American and enjoys biking, hiking, camping, playing volleyball, pickleball, and badminton on the weekends. He has two cats named Panther and Tiger, both born in his backyard. Dr. Tang also loves to cook just as much as he enjoys eating out like a true foodie.
